101 Dalmatians
Who can forget the moment Cruella De Vil’s henchmen kidnapped a litter of Dalmatian in a bid to turn them into a fur coat? She’s become of the most notorious villains in film history – and it’s safe to say, we still haven’t forgiven her.
Toy Story
The story of toys that come to life has seduced generation after generation. From star cowboy Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) to space ranger Buzz Lightyear and the brilliant Mr. Potato Head, its wonderful characters have earned a special place in the hearts of families across the globe. Long may the sequels continue.
A Monster Calls
When Patrick Ness’s moving novel came to the big screen two years ago starring Liam Neeson and Sigourney Weaver, it didn't disappoint. The fantasy story follows Conor, a grief-stricken 13-year-old boy whose mum is dying of cancer - and an imaginary monster who comes to his rescue to help him cope. It’s a compelling yet heart-wrenching watch - so have the tissues ready!
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
The Road Dahl classic first came to screens in 1971, and it remains a firm family favourite to this day. Everything from its bizarre confectionary to its orange-skinned, green-haired workforce, the Oompa-Loompas, is utterly bonkers...in the best possible way.
Big
If you're watching this with kids for the first time, expect them to want a giant piano, immediately. In fact, you'll probably want one too. The age-changing classic about a 12-year-old boy whose wish to be ‘big’ came true gave birth to one the most memorable scenes in film history – and over 30 years on from its release, it’s certainly stood the test of time.
Frozen
Do you want to build a snowman? Join sisters Elsa and Anna, lovable Olaf – the snowman who loves summer – and a host of other brilliant characters on an unforgettable adventure. Warning: songs will get stuck in your head, like, forever.
E.T.
This 1982 Spielberg classic starring a young Drew Barrymore has really stood the test of time. With that iconic soundtrack and plenty of moody night-time scenes, this is sci-fi at its best - funny, exciting and tear-jerking in equal measure. Kids and grown ups alike wall fall in love with it.
Harry Potter
Come on, we had to. Whichever of the eight films you decide to put on, you’ll be treated to a visual feast, a world where magic is real, good fights evil, and anything can happen. Perfect for a family movie marathon, any day of the year.
The Wizard of Oz
Because no-one will ever do Dorothy quite like Judy Garland did in the original 1939 film. Follow Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion down the yellow brick road, and delight in nostalgia. This is the perfect family film to pass on to future generations. It will also remind you that there’s no place like home.
The Greatest Showman
We defy you not to fall in love with the soundtrack. Packed full of catchy tunes, it’s no surprise that singalong screenings are cropping up all over the place. Hugh Jackman plays entrepreneurial circus owner PT Barnum, who brings a group of shunned misfits out from the shadows, showing them that they can celebrate themselves. Empowering and powerful, this is the greatest show!
Zootropolis
Idris Elba as a giant buffalo police chief… need we say more? Zootropolis follows Judy Hopps, a tiny bunny trying to make it as the first bunny police inspector in a very big world. And the sloth scene… well, don’t get us started. A fun romp about friendship, adventure and never underestimating ‘prey’.
Mary Poppins
"Well, come along, spit spot." Growing up, who didn’t wish for a nanny like Mary Poppins? Paintings come alive, laughter makes you float and penguins tap dance in the cult classic starring Julie Andrews. Practically perfect in every way.
Johnny English
Rowan Atkinson plays a Mr Bean-esque secret agent, who has the best of intentions but very seldom executes them according to plan. Along with a brilliant appearance by Ben Miller as Atkinson’s hapless best pal, Boff, this movie is slapstick and hilarious, full of chases, gadgets and silliness. The question is, can Mr English save the day?
Beethoven
Dogs, dogs and more dogs… what’s not to like? The first in a long series of movies about this loveable St Bernard, Beethoven is the ideal family film for animal loving kids and adults.
Moana
Make way, make way! She’s been staring at the water for as long as she can remember, never really knowing why…. but she’s about to find out! A young girl with a thirst for something more goes on the greatest adventure of her life. This is Disney at its best.
